The Hyundai Digital Key system allows users to start their vehicle and unlock it via a compatible smartphone. The Digital Key replaces your vehicle's physical key. Buyers will download the Digital Key via an app and use up to four authorized people. This technology is not just new to Hyundai but largely new to the industry.
Is Hyundai Digital Key safe?
Hyundai Digital Key runs securely through Near Field Communication technology. This system exhibits a high level of security. The NFC wireless data communication occurs only when the device and the reader are within a few centimeters of each other.
Does your Digital Key have to be close to your vehicle to work?
Yes, the Hyundai Digital Key allows users to access their vehicle systems remotely through their smartphones. The system uses Bluetooth Low Energy communication which allows the users to lock and unlock their vehicle, activate the panic alert, and start the engine.
Which smartphones are compatible with Hyundai Digital Key?
Currently, Hyundai Digital Key will only operate through an Android operating system. It is compatible with most recent Android devices. Your phone must be Android 7.0 or later, have Bluetooth 4.0 or newer, and offer Near Field Communication. If your device only supports NFC or BLE, then the usage of Digital Key features will be limited. Sadly Hyundai Digital Key is currently only available on Android devices. If you do not have an Android-based phone, you can use the Card Key provided with the vehicle.
How do I set my main vehicle?
Since you can assign multiple users to your Digital Key, you will want to assign yourself a primary key. For example, you will want to select the "Star" icon next to your vehicle image on the Hyundai Digital Key App homepage to mark it as the primary vehicle.
