While traveling at a speed set by you, it uses radars to maintain a safe distance from the car ahead. After the system slows the vehicle to a stop, it will reactivate if the vehicle in front moves within 3 seconds.Â
Lane Keeping Assist
Your vehicle warns you through audio and visual cues if your vehicle drifts out of your driving lane without signaling. If necessary, it will gently apply corrective steering assistance to keep you inside the lane.Â
HYUNDAI SMARTSENSE
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist
When you're going in reverse, it lets you know if its sensors detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. It may even apply the brakes automatically if needed.
Highway Driving Assist
While driving on the highway, this technology automatically helps keep you centered in your lane and traveling at a safe distance from the car ahead. It also keeps you driving at the right speeds, setting your pace based on GPS and highway data.Â
The New Redesigned Look of the 2022 Hyundai Kona
The most striking element of the 2022 Hyundai Kona redesign is the updated exterior body. This new model features a wider-looking hood design accented with horizontal headlamps, geometric alloy wheels, and new rear headlights and rear fascia. The contrasting bumper has new vertically-oriented inlets for improved aerodynamics, and the overall body is now 1.6 inches longer, offering increased legroom for the backseats. Inside, second-row passengers can also enjoy access to USB ports and more space overall for rear cargo. In the Limited trim, cupholders and footwells are lit by soft ambient lighting adding a surprisingly elegant touch to this modernized design. The N-Line features sporty touches like black upholstered seats with red contrast stitching and much more.
What New Tech is Available for the 2022 Kona?
The 2022 Kona has some significant updates in terms of safety, with available features such as Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and much more. There are also exciting new additions to the electronics suite, like the available 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation center with wireless connectivity to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and voice recognition using Blue Link. A new Tech Package is available to the Kona N Line, including extras like an electronic parking brake, LED headlights and taillights, and much more! The N Line also features an audio system by Harman Kardon.Â
2022 Hyundai Kona Powertrain and Fuel Efficiency
Upper trim levels like the N Line and Limited come with a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-4 with 195 lb-ft of torque and 195 horsepower compared to 175 in the previous model. Base trims like the SE and SEL both have 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque thanks to a 2.0-liter inline-4Â Atkinson engine paired with a new Smartstream IVT, or Intelligent Variable Transmission. Across all trims, drivers will experience improved efficiency and engine performance, with up to 35 miles per gallon on the highway.
